Massage Therapy
At Longevity Medical Health Center we offer a variety of massage services, which are all performed by an experienced and licensed massage therapist. Many people chose to receive massage for the relaxation benefits, but massage can also be very useful as part of a comprehensive treatment program. We offer many different types of massage therapy at our office, and can help to determine which might be the most appropriate in each patient's case. Some of the different massage techniques available include:
- Trigger Point Therapy
- A therapy applying specific and direct pressure on an isolated muscle to decrease pain and tenderness of a hyperirritable spot (trigger point) and it's referred muscle pain.
- Myofascial Therapy
- A therapy applying medium to deep pressure using no oils or creams to access the fascial system; a connective tissue which surrounds all muscles, bones, organs, blood vessels, nerves and cells. When the fascia is incorporated with muscle (myo) it is called "myofascia" and can literally adhere to muscle and inhibit proper range of motion and cause stiffness and pain. Myofascial Therapy creates space within the fascia increasing range of motion and relieving stiffness and pain.
- Neuromuscular Therapy
- A specific therapy used applying medium to deep pressure utilizing circular vibrations, cross-fiber friction and passive range of motion techniques to specific muscles, tendons and nerves (neuromuscular) to decrease soreness and radiating nerve pain.
- Pregnancy Massage
- With a doctor's clearance, a light to medium pressure is applied. The mother lies side lying with pillows propped in a comfortable position. Massage relieves stress to neck, shoulders, low back, hips, legs and feet, relaxes the nerves and relieves stress for both mother and baby and promotes a general feeling of wellbeing.
- Lymphatic Drainage Therapy
- It's the body's waste management system. No creams or oils are used. The technique applied is a light, rhythmic, "feather-like" touch applied to the skin's surface to stimulate the lymphatic flow allowing the removal of metabolic waste at the cellular level, thus a powerful aid in detoxifying the body.
- CranioSacral Therapy
- Utilizing the Dr. John Upledger method, this therapy applies a very light, gentle touch with the pressure of only a nickel. No creams or oils are used. Working in harmony with the rhythm of the Cerebral Spinal Fluid, hands are applied gently to the head (cranium) down to the tailbone (sacrum) promoting relief of dysfunction and pain. Additional reading material can be provided for the patient about CranioSacral Therapy.
- Swedish Massage
- The traditional massage therapy, administering light to medium pressure throughout the body while it increases blood and lymph circulation, increases joint and muscle flexibility, rids toxins, improves muscle tone and stimulates the release of endorphins increasing relaxation!
